Big Race on the Little Lake – 2026

Sketchy winds and threatening rain/lightning could not deter the intrepid Flying Dutchman fleet (cue scary music). Five MSC boats plus a distinguished guest from SW Ohio had a great two days of racing.

Saturday started slow with light and shifty winds from E to SE. We finished two rather quiet races before breaking in hopes that the wind would build. Lunch break, then back on the water for four more starts. But the wind speed and direction wasn’t much better.

Sunday was even more grim, with a forecast of drizzle developing into thunderstorms. Fortunately Jerry B. and Sean M. went out to practice and showed us there WAS mid-lake wind, and mostly from the west. The first gun sounded an hour after scheduled time, and the weather gods had mercy. Two short races and two somewhat longer concluded the regatta.

Congratulations to the podium of Ovidiu/Russell (1st), Paul H./Nate O., and Mike B./Matt B. We are very grateful for our volunteers, including Joy K., Ted J., Liam M., Tom DiB., Laura How. and chef Randee B. Extra credit for commodore Jeff K. who headed the protest committee and recruited Brook Smith from our neighbors at PYC.
